The UMM Heritage Collection contains photographs spanning the campus’ 119-year history. Although few photographs have been discovered, images depicting the American Indian boarding school years from 1888 until 1909 are included in the collection. Photos of the West Central School of Agriculture and Experiment Station, a boarding high school and research facility that made its home on the Morris campus from 1910 until 1963, complement the Historic District Collection. In 1960, the University of Minnesota, Morris opened its doors to its first class of college students, and the UMM Heritage Collection records in images UMM’s 48-year history.
This collection is a work in progress. As new photos are discovered from years past, and as new images are captured as UMM’s history continues to unfold, the UMM Heritage Collection will continue to grow. We thank you for browsing our collections, and invite your comments. Although we have attempted to be complete and accurate, information for some of the photos is limited.
