Campus Historic District Collection

The Historic District Collection documents the buildings and spaces that make up the West Central School of Agriculture and Experiment Station Historic District, 42 acres and 18 buildings that lie at the heart of the UMM campus. After the campus was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, UMM received a Campus Heritage Grant from the J. Paul Getty Foundation to create the University of Minnesota, Morris Historic Preservation Plan. The photos in this collection are a result of intensive research conducted for the preservation plan. Susan Granger ’80 and Scott Kelly ’77, Gemini Research, were instrumental in uncovering, investigating, and identifying the photographs included in this digital image collection that reflect the beauty of a Morell and Nichols’ landscape and the warmth of Clarence H. Johnston’s prairie school architectural designs.
